Dr. Aris Sterodimas
Dr Aris Sterodimas is the Head of the Plastic Surgery Department of METROPOLITAN General Hospital, in Athens, Greece. He is considered as the pioneer of adipose stem cell application in the field of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He did his training in Plastic Surgery in Bristol Royal Infirmary University Hospitals Bristol NHS, Radcliffe Infirmary Oxford University Hospitals NHS and the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in United Kingdom. He obtained his Master degree in the field of Surgical Technology from Imperial College of London, United Kingdom. Dr. Sterodimas served then as resident of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department in the renowned center of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ivo Pitanguy Institute, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From 2005, he has been actively involved in research of Stem Cells application in the field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Regenerative Medicine. His PhD is on Adipose Tissue Engineering in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Sterodimas is a Board certified plastic surgeon after completing successfully the National Board Examination, member of the ISAPS, member of IPRAS, member of the HESPRAS and member of AeXPI.He currently serves in the Board of Directors of ISPRES.
He has published 60 peer reviewed articles in the most important Plastic Surgery journals and has contributed in the writing of 32 book chapters. He is a reviewer for Aesthetic Surgery journal (ASJ), Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Journal (PRS), Aesthetic Plastic Surgery journal (APS) and Annals of Plastic Surgery journal. Dr. Sterodimas serves as Visiting Professor and honored guest lecturer at Institutions around the globe and has participated as a faculty speaker in the biggest events of Plastic Surgery in the last 5 years. Plastic surgeons from 22 different countries have visited his department for training and observation of the state of the art procedures performed by him and his team. He is invited also to perform live surgeries, demonstrating his cutting edge techniques in order to educate his colleagues around the world on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Dr. Aris Sterodimas has written one of the most popular textbooks on regenerative medicine and adipose derived stem cells, ‘Adipose Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine’ which has been translated into 3 different languages and has been among the top 25% sold medical books for 5 consecutive years.
